welcome!

Hello, wherever you are, I wish you happiness and health.

My name is Poppy Kanu and I often make work about themes of care, community and storytelling  to create a more compassionate world.

Whether through the medium of printmaking, poetry, animation or photography, I am motivated by the message and creating work with a positive social impact.

For example, I recently worked with Citizens UK to create an animation for their Fairer Pathways to Citizenship campaign, and continue to campaign with them.

I have been running a monthly poetry and ideas circle since 2018, ‘People with Voices’, an intergenerational space for listening, sharing and confidence building. I also work with Insights and A Team Arts Education to endeavour to make the arts more accessible.

I am a current LVMH scholar,  Barbican Young Poet alumni 2022-2023 and Roundhouse Poetry Slam Finalist 2021.

My work was exhibited in the Lethaby Gallery as part of the ‘Soil, Toil & Table’ exhibition , and I have also shown work at the South London Gallery and The Brady Arts and Community Centre.

I am open to conversations and collaborations, my email and Instagram are below!
